The ten-meter-high Eduardsturm (Eduard Tower) was built in 1883 in memory of Eduard Schumacher, a cloth merchant from Viersen, who found the climate in Haiger particularly beneficial and often visited the current location of the observation tower. He provided a considerable amount of money for its construction.

From the Eduardsturm you have a wonderful view over Haiger, an Eduard Schumacher already knew that:
The approximately 10 m high observation tower was built in memory of the cloth merchant Eduard Schumachers from Viersen 125 years ago. Mr. Schumachers lived from 1832 to 1880 and was often a guest in Haiger because he valued the local climate as beneficial for his health. From the location of the Eduardsturm, he is said to have enjoyed the view of Haiger and therefore made "a considerable amount of money" available for the construction of the tower. In memory of Mr. Schumachers, a plaque made of white marble was already attached to the tower with the inscription: “Eduard Schumachers from Viersen, geb. Nov. 21, 1832, d. April 27, 1880; erected in memory of 1883 ”.
