    The Lippesee is a recreational area, where there are a variety of water sports and recreational opportunities such as sailing, surfing, paddle boating and fishing. On the north shore there is a small beach at the kiosk. In addition, there is a barbecue area, a children's playground, lawns, a mountain bike trail, a skate park and a mini golf course. Water skiing opportunities can be found in the adjacent Nesthauser See.

    The Lippesee is completely surrounded by mostly paved paths on which cycling and running sports are possible all year round. In suitable snow conditions, the Lippe Lake Circulation is also suitable as a cross-country ski trail.

    Water sports are possible on the Lippesee. At the lake there are two sailing clubs, the Paderborn Yacht Club e.V. and the Seger Association Paderborn e.V., as well as a commercial sailing school.

    In addition to its use as a recreational area, high-quality gravels are also mined in the lake, which in the last ice age at the transition from the Westphalian Bay to the Paderborn plateau have deposited in layers of up to 20 m, especially in the area of ​​the Lippe Lake. These river deposits originate mainly from the Alme and the Beke, which flow above the Lippesees of the Lippe.
