In the forest area Friedeholz between Kreismuseum Syke and Syker Vorwerk lies the art area Wald-Weg-Zeichen. At present, the art trail consists of seven wooden sculptures by different artists, whose content and form are related to their location - the forest. The reason for the idea was the work of Louis Niebuhr from 2001, which led the initiators Ralf Vogeding to connect the cultural centers Kreismuseum Syke and Syker Vorwerk along an art trail on foot. Here, the arrangement of the art objects should receive the character of a circular route, on which you can commute between the about 1.5 kilometers away institutions.
An essential feature of the forest road signs is the change. In the cycle of the seasons, the exhibition venue Wald changes its appearance incessantly. Due to their exposed locations, the sculptures are exposed to the influence of nature; the artists therefore planned the process of weathering and decay. If the condition of individual works of art violates safety regulations of the forest, or if the statement of the work of art due to its outward appearance is no longer given, these are removed. In addition, the concept of the forest road signs provides that further sculptures continuously expand the art path.
