This 10 ha deep well was created by excavating sand for the construction of the A18 (Jabbeke-Veurne-Calais). In the meantime, the Koolhofput has become a stopping place for humans and animals. Water birds and fish on the one hand, fishermen, hikers and nature lovers on the other feel at home. As part of the land development, the Koolhofput was further provided with observation huts, spawning grounds, a walking path and planting works.
