Hiking

Romantic castle ruins above Rheindiebach. The Archdiocese of Cologne had it built in the 13th century as Zollburg. At the time of its construction, it was one of the most powerful and best fortified castles on the Rhine.

After considerable destruction by invaders in the late 17th century, the ruins fell into ruins for several centuries. Meanwhile, some restoration work is taking place, however, no visit is currently possible.

Fürstenberg Castle is a medieval castle ruin near Rheindiebach, a district of Oberdiebach in the Mainz-Bingen district in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Since 2002, Fürstenberg Castle has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage Upper Middle Rhine Valley. A special feature of the Rhine Valley in terms of monument preservation are the extensive remains of the original plaster, which allow the color scheme of the complex over the past centuries to be traced.
