The world café, which is open from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., is a meeting point for visitors and believers before and after the service, who can enjoy the view of the church through the glass door. “Hospitality and spirituality form a connection here that you will not find anywhere else in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The Old Reformed Church is the oldest church in the Elberfeld district of Wuppertal. It is the successor building to the St. Laurentius Church, which was Catholic until the Reformation, and has been the main Protestant church in the Wuppertal church district since 2005 as the Elberfeld City Church.

The Weltcafé in the Citykirche is also very popular, where you can take a short break with a coffee or a piece of cake.

Between 955 and 1000 the first Laurentius church was built: a stone hall church with a square chancel. Width 6 m, length 10 m, adjoining square choir 4x4 m to the east. Windows with lead frame, church interior plastered and whitewashed, gable roof. The church building received the Laurentius patronage in the second half of the 10th century and was consecrated in the name of the Roman martyr (the name "St. Laurentius Church" was mentioned in a document in 1371). Traces of this period are found in the excavations Tree coffin graves found on the south side of the nave in 1953 (as documents of pagan burial culture that the Christianized Saxons brought with them) on the outside of the south wall. Destroyed by fire around 1050.
