The Jewish Quarter of Třebíč is one of the best-preserved Jewish quarters in Europe. It originated on the left bank of the Jihlava River and developed over several centuries into an important center of the Jewish community. The first written references to Jewish inhabitants in Třebíč date back to 1338. In 1723, the Jewish Quarter officially became a closed ghetto, where the Jewish population was spatially separated from the Christian inhabitants. This restriction ended in 1848 when Jews gained more rights and were allowed to settle outside the quarter as well. (visittrebic.eu⁠)

The Jewish Quarter (Ghetto) of Třebíč was added to the UNESCO list of world cultural and natural heritage in 2003 after extensive restoration. It is the only Jewish monument on this list outside of Israel. The old (front) synagogue from 1642 and the new (rear) synagogue from 1669 are also located here.
