The synagogue was built between 1639 and 1642 in the Baroque style. In 1757 it was lowered by one floor, presumably because it blocked the view from the castle. After a fire, it was reconstructed in a neo-Gothic style between 1856 and 1857. It is a free-standing, one-story building with a rectangular floor plan and a hipped roof. It was a synagogue with traditional interiors with 114 seats in the hall and 80 seats for women in a gallery.
