The museum consists of a group of buildings in the central square of the historic village of Varvari, now known as Myrtia. The museum exhibition is located on a site that was previously occupied by the home of the Anemoyiannis family, who were related to the father of Nikos Kazantzakis, Kapetan Michalis.
