The core business of the Rittergut Birkhof was agriculture and cattle breeding. At the beginning of the 20th century, we started growing tulips, daffodils and hyacinths. A mail order business was operated. There was a garden center right in the Ritterhof.
The manor borders a 200 year old park with historical oak and beech trees. This park and the adjacent chestnut avenue are designated as natural monuments. The garden center was closed at the end of 2018.
In 1996 a 27-hole golf course with numerous ponds was set up on 84 hectares, the fairways and greens of which blend into the park landscape. In 2007 the facility was expanded to include a further 9-hole course, par 72.
The manor includes a clinker brick building with a Gothic stepped gable. Due to the risk of collapse, the structure was restored in 1986. Today there is a café in the building.
