Hiking

Attractions in Calheta include the parish church, the sugar factory and the Casa das Mudras art museum. At the entrance to the river, jetties were created to protect the marina and the beach from waves. The sandy beach was artificially heaped up with sand from Morocco. There are nice beach bars and few package hotels.
