Road Cycling Highlight (Segment)
The Furkapass forms the border of the two Swiss cantons of Uri and Valais and passes the mighty Rhône Glacier. It leads you to 2436 meters and can be combined with the Sustenpass and Grimselpass or the Nufenenpass and St. Gotthardpass to beautiful rounds.

If I have a choice, I drive down the west side ... the long straight is a pleasure ... downhill! Driving up here means all the time seeing the bare rock that has remained from the glacier retreat ... :-)

You get a little scary when you approach the Furka Pass and have the steep garlands in front of your eyes. But then it is quite pleasant.

Rather shorter climb if you come across the Grimselpass. Very classic with beautiful curves.

The view of the 4000 m peaks of the Bernese and Valais Alps is great from the Furka Pass on a clear day. The view of what was left of the once impressive Rhone glacier demolition is thought-provoking.
