In the 17th century, the "Kirchhöfner" built their houses in a semicircle around the church. Half-timbered houses, some of which are still preserved today. The original buildings included (among other things) the Old School, the Küsterhaus, the rectory, the Kantorschule and the 'Alte Krug', a restaurant that is "permanently closed". In spring 2016, the "Alter Krug Heiden" association was founded to look for prospects for the listed building.
