In the 17th century, the "Kirchhöfner" built their houses in a semicircle around the church. Half-timbered houses, some of which have survived to this day. The original buildings included (among others) the Alte Schule, the Küsterhaus, the Pfarrhaus, the Kantorschule and the 'Alte Krug', a restaurant that is permanently closed. In the spring of 2016, the association "Old Krug Heiden" was founded to look for prospects for the listed building.
