Saint-Jean-de-Losne is one of the smaller towns in France. With big river port. It is located at the crossroads of waterways along the Sa么ne, which serves as the main canal or the Burgundy Canal du Rh么ne au Rhin at Saint-Symphorien-sur-Saone.

During the Second World War on September 4, 1944, the bridge over the Sa么ne was blown up by the retreating German Wehrmacht. Previously, the Royal Air Force had bombed and destroyed the bridge in Seurre. Thus important west-east connections were interrupted over the Sa么ne as well as also the railway line from Dijon to Lons-le-Saunier. (Wikipedia)

Its worth to leave the EuroVeloRoute 6 here briefly to cross the bridge to the northern side of the Sa么ne river and explore this little town, with a great museum about the canal boat history, and a small harbor further inlands that once served the smaller old canal boats and now tries to reinvent itself for the pleasure boats using the canal.
