According to the official name, the ERFT rises at this point on the outskirts of Holzmülheim and flows into the Rhine near Neuss after around one hundred kilometers. The Kuhbach is added from further up, but in terms of name it merges with the still very young Erft.

A very nice place at the Erftquelle. Top maintained with toilet facilities. Here you can quietly take a longer break.

The Erft rises in the small town of Holzmülheim, directly below the Himberg. The water of the Ouelle flows directly into the Kuhbach and the Erft was created. From here it flows in the direction of Bad Münstereifel and on until after about 100 km it flows into the Rhine at Neuss. The spring version was framed with natural stones by the village community. There is also a small statue of Johannes Nepomuk, who is venerated as a bridge saint and is supposed to protect against water hazards.
In the immediate vicinity is a playground, where there is also a grill and a lawn. At events at the source there is the possibility of being baptized in the Erft and receiving the title of "Erft Cadet".
