In the municipality Untersandau dominated the listed parish church of St. Michael. Originally it was a Gothic church, which was rebuilt in Baroque style in 1682. It is a one-nave elongated structure with a presbytery, which is closed on three sides, and a tower above the sacristy on the north side. The main altar of St. Michael is from the year 1697.
Untersandau became famous through the production of the then famous special paper cans and tobacco boxes "Sander" in Europe.
