The German Mining Museum Bochum (DBM) provides a comprehensive insight into the worldwide mining of all mineral resources from prehistoric times to today. It shows not only technical, but also extensive mineralogical and unique (art) historical collection items. It is thus the most important mining museum in the world and at the same time the German Research Museum of the Leibniz Association for Georesources.
Our exhibitions and the faithful underground mine provide visitors with insights into the world of mining. In addition, the conveyor framework offers a fantastic view over Bochum and the Ruhr area.

A system of stretches and struts approximately 20 meters deep and approximately 2.5 kilometers long explains tunneling and coal production under realistic conditions and safety aspects. However, the routes have never served to deplete natural resources and have been created for demonstration purposes only.
