A particularly well-developed piece of bike path. Ideal for driving and nicely integrated. The path is even lit.

Time a negative highlight: in Bochum-Weitmar a new housing development is provided directly on the route. Not only did you change the route, which would otherwise be straightforward and gradient-free, but also changed options for future use. The photos show
the almost plowed rails in front of the settlement
the two turns off the track.
the useless slope on the detour

Finally the hitherto missing piece at the house Weitmar is passable! (10.23.2017)

A beautiful route, without traffic chaos and with plenty of nature around it, right through Bochum.

Until Bochum-Weitmar a paved bike path, then to Bochum-Dahlhausen only Holperstrecke. This section will probably be asphalted from October 2018.

    Beautiful and varied route.
At the moment we built a lot there (December 18)

A great connection between Essen and Bochum!
From the Ruhr in Dahlhausen to Bochum Stiepel there is no significant traffic that bothers.
Currently we here and there swapped the dirt road for asphalt.
So not yet suitable for racing bikes.

The Springorum cycle path is now completely paved and thus a wonderful route, even for "racers". In combination with the towpath on the Ruhr great routes can be worked out.

I can confirm Dieter's tip, everything goes in one go through to Dahlhausen. You do not have to drive in the previously unpaved part (which I actually did not find so bad with the trekking bike), nor do you have to drive down in Dahlhausen or close to the road.

An optimal cycle path connection on a former railway line that leads from the Ruhr Valley near Dahlhausen up to the center of Bochum. The route is very well paved, in the lower part there are interesting information boards about the history of mining here in the Ruhr Valley.

Too bad that from the castle park on the busy Hattinger road, which fortunately partly a separate bike path has to dodge. For bikes with sensitive tires, the part of Eva mentioned above is in many places impassable. I'm curious if next spring will be different.

A super smooth asphalt, perfect for racing bikes or longboarding. Unfortunately relatively full. The gradient from Dahlhausen to Bochum center is moderate.

Great bike path to the south of Bochum.
Sometimes also decried as a racetrack or cyclist highway.
