The Lichtenburg is Ostheim's landmark and was first mentioned in a document in the 12th century. It is very well signposted as the destination of several hiking trails. From the well-preserved castle tower you have a fantastic view of the Rhön, the Grabfeld and the Thuringian Forest. Below the keep is the mighty main gate. Festivals, concerts and other events create a range of leisure activities that keep the Lichtenburg alive. In addition, the financial gain is used to keep the castle in good condition.
