From here you have a better view of Muckross Lake and Lough Leane than from the summit of Torc Mountain, especially when the clouds are low.
As Till has already written, there is an even better spot towards Torc Waterfall, as there are fewer trees there than at the marked point. However, you should be a bit fit for the 270-metre climb, mainly over steep, rocky steps from the path along the road below. This is the recommended direction of walking and it makes sense, as the steps are narrow (oncoming traffic is not so good) and it is better and safer to go up them than down. Alternatively, you can also make a detour from the bridge above the waterfall and then go back the same way.

The way up here has been worth it. You can let your eyes wander over the lakes in several places. Towards Torc Waterfall comes an even better spot as there are fewer trees than the one marked.

Wonderful view, the ascent over the large stone steps is worthwhile.
