    FRANCISCAN CHURCH, Ljubljana
    The image of Prešeren Square is mainly characterized by the Franciscan monastery with the Church of the Annunciation. The Augustinians lived there until the end of the 18th century. The church was built between 1646 and 1660, its facade was completed around 1700, rebuilt in the 19th century and renovated in 1993. Above the facade stands a copper statue of the Virgin Mary, the largest statue of her in the city.

    The church is decorated with a monumental high altar by the sculptor Francesco Robba, which was built in the mid-18th century. In the mid-19th century, the interior of the church was painted with frescoes by Matevž Langus. The interior acquired its current appearance after the earthquake of 1895. The ceiling of the church was painted with frescoes by Matej Sternen between 1935 and 1936. Plečnik's cross is located in a special chapel.

        The Annunciation Church (Slovenian: Cerkev Marijinega oznanjenja) or Franciscan Church (Frančiškanska cerkev) is located on Prešeren Square in Ljubljana and was built between 1646 and 1660.
