The Priwall has a rather eventful history behind it. On it was once an important German airport, in World War II here was a submarine port and accordingly suffered the Priwall also under heavy air attacks. Refugee flows followed and in 1945 the peninsula became a real one as the Soviet occupying power closed the border with Mecklenburg. Since 1990 you can use the Mecklenburger Landstraße again. This information board gives an overview of the history of the area and is definitely worth a stop.

Memorial stone for the opening of the former inner-German border between Schleswig Holstein and the former GDR on Priwall in February 1990 with the inscription:
"NEVER DIVIDED AGAIN 3 FEBR 1990"
and the coat of arms of Travemünde and the Duchy of Mecklenburg.

Directly at the entrance there is the board "Never again divided!", Which informed about the course of the inner German border until 1989. About two hundred meters before you will find the panel "Pötenitz-Priwall" with information about the cycling network.
