There is something of a haunting beauty about the abandoned 19th-century village now known as "Crimea". The ruined shells of houses and walls are scattered on the hillside above Toreen Pier, evoking a strong sense of both history and loss.

In bad weather and the wrong time of the year this is not immediately apparent, but the path section to Crimea is surrounded by beautiful flora. Especially the many thimbles .....
