Designed by Ferenc Pfaff and inaugurated in 1902, Cluj-Napoca railway station is one of the most important railway junctions in northwestern Romania. The Oradea-Cluj line was put into service on September 7, 1870. In 1890, there were three passenger trains and two express trains between Oradea and Cluj every day. On June 2, 1944, bombing raids by the US Air Force damaged the station and its surroundings, and a large part of the station building collapsed. Today, trains connect Cluj with all parts of Romania, and international connections go to Budapest and Vienna.
