Today's third town hall building dates back to 1841 and was built in the neo-Gothic style after the model of the Hofer town hall. Heinrich Hess (1794-1865), then Grand Ducal Saxe-Weimar Building Council, was awarded the contract for the three-storey new building and a stepped middle tower tower and a balcony porch on the ground floor (Wikipedia).
