The Atlantic shows its most beautiful side from the lighthouse. In addition, the beach is pretty empty, since there are not (yet) any large hotel complexes in the immediate vicinity (as of Oct/2017)...

Cape Trafalgar is located about 40 kilometers south-east of Cadiz. A detour to this historic place is worthwhile because of the beautiful beaches and the dune landscape in which the lighthouse is embedded.
One or the other will then remember his history lessons again, because the notorious Battle of Trafalgar took place nearby at the beginning of the 19th century.

The lighthouse stands on the small promontory in front of it. From here you have an excellent view over the sea and the picturesque cape. Remains of an ancient Moorish lighthouse from the 13th century can also be found.

For me the most beautiful lighthouse on the Andalusian coast! The snow-white, 34-meter-high lighthouse stands on a rocky plateau and defies the strong wind there. The white facade stands out wonderfully from the blue Atlantic. Unfortunately, the tower cannot be climbed, but you can always find hundreds of photo motifs. By the way, the beach on the Cape is a popular kite spot.

This 39 meter lighthouse is located in the capital of Cádiz and is the second oldest in Spain. It is inside the enclosure of a military fortress.

From far away, the Faro de Trafalgar is easy to see. However, it is not always easy to make your way through the mostly strong sand drifts. Often the strong east wind (Levante) blows over the cape. In 1860, a 34 m high lighthouse was built on the survey.

The Trafalgar Lighthouse was built in 1860 on the remains of a Roman lighthouse. It stands on a narrow sandbar that juts far out into the Atlantic Ocean. The site is famous for the Battle of Trafalgar (1805), in which the British fleet under Admiral Nelson defeated the Spanish-French alliance.
