Steinfeld is also known in the horse region of Vechta with its place Mühlen, where many horse events take place, through its 75 life-size horse sculptures, which are now distributed throughout the municipality, as well as the "Dicken Stein" (komoot.de/highlight 254796), which shapes the face of the town center.
But in the south of the village we also find this well-preserved object of industrial history from 1900, the Kollergang, located on the Ziegeleiteich.
As the name of the pond already indicates, this is about the production of bricks. The imposing rolling mill was used to grind clay. The clay was crushed by the thick rollers and pressed through the iron plate underneath like a meat grinder. After all, Wilberding's steam brick factory, founded in 1850, was operated at this location until 1973.
In 2019, the community redesigned the area around the Ziegeleiteich for 100,000 euros and, in addition to the tree bench, also built a natural window through which great photos can be taken to remember and present yourself.
The old transformer tower, which was redesigned by NABU for bird protection in the mid-2010s, is also located on the Ziegeleiteich.

Anyone looking for peace and tranquility will find it here!
Away from the hustle and bustle, you can discover urban nature and centuries-old culture along the walk. At the beginning of the route, the Ziegelei pond on the edge of the town center invites you to take a beautiful tour. The approximately 400 meter long and two meter wide asphalted circular path is lined with old trees and offers many opportunities to linger. A barrier-free picnic area, which can also be used by wheelchair users, offers a beautiful view of the pond to observe and enjoy water birds or the nature around the pond.
A well-paved pedestrian path continues past the "Haus am Ziegeleiteich" nursing home into the town center. The large town church "St. Johannis Baptist" from 1899 can be seen from afar. The church with its colorful window glass, altars and art-historical treasures is very impressive. A visit is therefore very worthwhile.
The beautiful town hall square with fountains and a 200-year-old plane tree is another highlight of the city walk. The unique atmosphere of the place invites you to relax and linger. The landmark of the town of Steinfeld, which is located at the end of the route, is also worthwhile. A huge, ancient boulder, which is intended to commemorate the soldiers who died in the First and Second World Wars, represents the destination of the walk.
