Franzburg is located on the southern shore of Lake Richtenberg, is one of the smallest towns in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and the seat of the Office Franzburg-Richtenberg.
The parish church of Franzburg looks a bit strange because it does not have a bell tower.
