In the castle's small orchard, a dwelling known as the "New Inn" was built around 1770. This house was rented out. Art historians described it as a beautiful 18th century cottage in provincial regency style. At the end of the 19th century, this house evolved into the forester's house of the castle de Merode. The latter family also owns it. In Everberg it is known as the former home of "Jef van Vinus" or forester Jozef Meersman.

Forester's house at the castle of the princes de Mérode. Beautiful pavilion from around 1750 in provincial regency style. Seven-bay long single-storey house covered with a mansard roof; brick construction with use of sandstone for the regular cornerstones and the posts of the segmental arched windows and doors.
