The streetcar, briefly called "Wild Zicke", operates since 1892 in Naumburg, even if only on Germany's smallest tram network.

The tram in Naumburg has been running on a ring-shaped route since 1892, with a few interruptions. On August 18, 1991 the railway was taken out of service. For the 100th anniversary of the tram in 1992, some special trips were carried out on a short stretch of the route at the depot. Large parts of the route were no longer passable.
On March 14, 1994, the Naumburger Straßenbahngesellschaft mbH was founded, which primarily aimed to market the only ring tram in Europe for tourism. Soon afterwards, this company began to restore some sections of the former ring. First of all, in 1995 the route from Theaterplatz to Jägerplatz was restored for electrical operation.
In the following years, the route from the main train station via Jägerplatz and Theaterplatz to the Salztor was prepared. The station is no longer served directly, the line initially ended about 200 meters southeast.
In 2006 the tram ran for the first time every weekend from Easter to October; daily traffic was resumed on March 31, 2007.
