The obelisk originally stood on a traffic island in the middle of the road, with the roadway divided by safety barriers for a length of about 70 meters[1]. The obelisk was visible from the 2 km away exit of Oberickelsheim, as the road ran straight towards it.

In the early morning of December 3, 2010, a truck collided with the pyramid and severely damaged it.[2] In the interest of road safety, the pyramid was not reconstructed in its original location, but about 20 meters east of the road and inaugurated on November 14, 2012.[3] The road division with traffic island was removed. A small parking lot was set up for visitors to the pyramid 150 meters southeast, at the intersection with State Road 2271.
