    The Wijngaardsberghof
The Wijngaardsberghof is a large farm in the Dutch South Limburg in the municipality of Meerssen. This closed square farm is located south of Ulestraten on top of the Wijngaardsberg, an extension in the southwest of the Central Plateau, and on the northern slope of the Geuldal. The Watervalderbeekdal lies around this hill on three sides. The slope forest Vliekerbos lies to the southwest and northwest of the farm. To the northeast and southeast there are vineyards on the slopes with the hamlet Waterval at the bottom of the slope.

In 968 there were already vineyards on the Wijngaardsberg. The Frankish queen Gerberga, who lived in Meerssen, donated her possessions, including the vineyards on the Wijngaardsberg, to the Abbey of Reims, after which Benedictine monks came to Meerssen to manage the vineyards and founded the Provostry of Meerssen here.[2]

With the start of the Little Ice Age it became colder (around 1500), causing wine growing to disappear in many places, but on the Wijngaardsberg they continue to exist due to its favourable location.[2]

Around 1800 the French abolished the provostry, the vineyard was cleared and the monks had to flee to Germany. The terraces of this old vineyard are still present in the Vliekerbos.

In the 18th and 19th centuries the square farm was built on the mountain.
Around 1945 the country house, one of the four wings, was demolished.
In 2002 a vineyard was planted on the mountain again.
