The Princes' Island was acquired by Emperor Wilhelm II in 1910 and remains in the possession of the House of Hohenzollern to this day. Forest, marshy terrain, a sandy beach, and four large paddocks characterize the landscape. The sons of the last emperor once learned about farming here. Their mother, Empress Augusta Victoria, enjoyed her idyllic haunts here, far from court life.

To preserve the tranquility and pristine nature of this special place, the approximately two-kilometer-long island is closed to motorized traffic. A picturesque hiking trail, which is also accessible by bicycle, leads from the land to a spot that envelops visitors with its natural surroundings, offering small refreshments and culinary delights, creating a relaxing retreat from their everyday lives. The island can be reached by boat from the Plön pier during the season.
