The Kiefhoelzer Teich is a mining pond and was created in the 17th century to store water for mining. It gets its water from the Zankwieser Graben and the Unteren Schalker Graben.
Swimming is allowed here, idyllically situated in the forest. Benches and tables invite you to take a break, and the paths are easy to cycle on.
The Kiefhoelzer Teich is part of the Upper Harz Water System and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2010. A wonderful place and always worth a break!
