At the Welse you can listen to the sound of the water and the singing of the birds.

Unfortunately the mill wheel is no longer in operation.

Mentioned for the first time in 1445, it was destroyed in 1462, rebuilt soon after and burned down again nine years later. And the mill was destroyed a third time during a campaign against Delmenhorst. The reconstruction took place this time with stones from the former monastery buildings of the Hude monastery.

In 1844 the Elmeloh watermill was demolished again, but rebuilt a little further south. For a long time, the flour was used to supply the farmers in the area, who all baked their own bread at the time. The Elmeloher watermill has not rattled for a good 50 years, but it is still a sight.

The mill is privately owned and cannot be visited.

The Welse is a tributary of the Delme, it comes from the Welsburg near Dötlingen, meanders through Ganderkesee and Delmenhorst until it flows into the Delme, which finally reaches the North Sea via the Ochtum and Weser.
