Since the end of 2023, after decades of deep sleep, the Spreepark has been undergoing structural transformation into a new gem for the capital. Where the Ferris wheel, roller coaster and cup carousel used to run their rounds, a park with ponds, meadows and restaurants is now being built. The area around the iconic Eierhäuschen with restaurant and beer garden has been accessible again since the end of March. If you want to find out more about the progress of the conversion, you can find it here: spreepark.berlin.

After the Spreepark degenerated into a lost place for a few years, it is now more cordoned off and accessible as part of guided tours. There are plans to expand the area (without an amusement park - more of a kind of artists' colony), whether anything will come of it and when will remain to be seen

Former GDR amusement park. Derelict since 2002.
The atmosphere is eerily beautiful, especially at dusk. A drive around is worth it. Good photo opportunities are guaranteed.
