The Schleusengraf - a vivid project of the European Regional Support Association e.V.
In Grafenbrück was once the royal - Prussian water management - cradle of today 's waterway administration.
The dilapidated "witches' house" on the wayside proved to be a former warehouse building, erected 1802 - 1804. Curiosity awoke the special barrel-like roof shape. This roof construction goes back to the builder David Gilly (1748 - 1808). This is the so-called screed construction, where several layers of short wooden planks are connected to form long arcuate support elements.
Only with wooden nails the roof construction was restored according to historical modelIt is the proof that screed binders can still hold today without screwing and gluing.
Improvability, courage, perseverance and the firm belief of everyone involved in the success of the project made it possible to create an architectural treasure.
