From 1937 to 1945 there was an armaments factory here, the Gerätebau GmbH, a branch of the watch factory Gebr. Thiel from Ruhla, in which time fuses for anti-aircraft grenades were last manufactured in three shifts. The B-camp, later the Martha II branch of the Buchenwald concentration camp, was built 2km away for the labor needed.
The factories were blown up in 1947 by the Soviet Army. The ruins and rubble of the building and the surrounding wall have been hidden in the forest to this day.
