The new Main Bridge, which opened in 2010 and connects Segnitz with Marktbreit, was designed in such a way that collisions with ships should no longer be so easy.
The previous structure was so badly affected by several accidents that it had to be replaced.
Fun fact: The old bridge was rebuilt in the beer garden of a restaurant in Bolzhausen 😉

The 160 m long tied arch bridge (since 2010) connects Segnitz with Marktbreit and spans the Main at the southern point of the Main Triangle.
Since 1893, various bridge structures have replaced the ferry that previously ran between the banks of the Main. After the superstructure was blown up by German troops in 1945, construction work on the overpass on State Road 2273 began again and again from 1949 to 2009.
Today, in addition to the roadway for cars, the Segnitzer Main Bridge also offers a well-developed footpath and cycle path on both sides.
