The painter's angle house sits picturesquely on the creek wall of the Breitbach. The oldest parts of the current building were probably built in the early 17th century and it got its current appearance towards the end of the 18th century. For a long time it was a business building for the cloth trade and later for spices. Today it houses a museum.

The Malerwinkelhaus, picturesquely situated on the Breitbach and originally dating back to the 17th century, is the landmark of the town of Marktbreit and remains a popular motif for artists and photographers to this day. While the building served as a business premises (grocery store) for centuries, it now houses the Malerwinkelhaus museum with the permanent exhibitions “Frauen-Zimmer. Lebensstationen in einer fränkischen Kleinstadt” and the “Römerkabinett”.

The small half-timbered house on the right doesn't really give anything away, there are still a few dozen of these narrow corner houses in half-timbered construction in Germany - but with this little house, the environment brings the special flair, namely the gate over the Main to Marktbreit. Three houses lined up next to each other, which almost threaten to tip into the Main, give the ensemble the final visual kick. It's no wonder that everyone is talking about the "Painter's Corner", because countless painters have set up their easels here to capture this romantic spot on canvas.
