This section of the Ems cycle path from the lock near Herbrum to behind Dörpen is one of the best sections on the entire route. The tour begins at the Herbrumer lock and thus frees the dike. Right at the beginning, to the west, is the "Alte Ems" glider airfield. The Ems is comfortable and wide with lush green meadows, grazing cows, sports boats, barges and all kinds of hikers and cyclists on the well-developed path along the river.
On this section you then continue past the Leher Pünte, which is active on Sundays and public holidays. At Heede, a detour to the 1000-year-old linden tree is certainly worthwhile.
Like the section to the south, this section is romantically magical and should not be missed if you want to cycle in Emsland.
In the further course it goes on the cycle path in the direction of Steinbild, where shortly before a gastronomic operation in the Ems-Marina-Park awaits with pleasant hospitality.

The DEK is very easy to drive on due to the tarmac on most sections.
