Linn Castle is known for its flax market at Pentecost. Then there is a lot of activity with many offers for children. Dogs are not welcome, but they are allowed to go to the market. (forbidden in the castle)

The castle is surrounded by the largely preserved medieval complex of the formerly small-town Linn with extensive parks, which also include part of the former fortifications belonging to the ditches and bastions.

On the southeastern edge of Krefeld are Linn Castle and town, easily accessible by car (A57) or public transport. The visit is worthwhile - in addition to the reconstructed weir and the adjoining housing developments, there is an interesting museum.
The foundation castle of today's castle was founded on an artificially heaped hill around 1200 by the counts of Kleve. The castle was rebuilt in 1400 by Fr. of Saarweden and extended in 1475 with a ring wall.
In the Spanish War of Succession 1701 - 1704, the castle was destroyed. Around 1740, the hunting lodge was built in the outer bailey. In the aftermath of the Second World War, the ruins were rebuilt in the 1950s according to the original plans.
Visiting the castle you can see on the outer walls very beautiful which parts of the building where renewed. Incidentally, the reconstruction work was done very well =) The roof of the keep is somewhat disturbing. Well, you can not have everything.
The castle and the hunting lodge can be visited for a small fee. The cash register is located in the hunting lodge and you have the choice between a complete visit for 3 euros or just the castle tour.
Especially since the hunting lodge also shows a nice insight into the former life.
In the castle's palace you can see the history of the castle and numerous photo documents of the reconstruction. The keep can of course be climbed and you can enjoy from there a beautiful panoramic view.
The moat was dug again and the parks were restored to their original condition.
Who has desire and time can go through the adjacent Greiffenhorstpark and get there to Greiffenhorstschlösschen, a mansion which was built in 1843. If you are traveling to the Lower Rhine or to the nearby Ruhr area, you can recommend a detour to Krefeld. It is worth it ..

Burg Linn is a beautifully restored medieval moated castle with a hunting lodge near the historic center of Krefeld - Linn.
The outer bailey offers an insight into old fire extinguishing "technology" and beautiful old sleds.
The buildings themselves and the nearby textile museum are of course closed at the moment (Corona), but there is also a lot to look at from the outside.
If you have enough time, you can hike through the surrounding, English-style park to the NSG Latumer Bruch and even to the Rhine.

Linn Castle, a moated castle from the 12th century. In 1924 the castle was sold to the city of Krefeld. By 1926 the castle was renovated and turned into a state museum. In 1930 the Jagdschlösschen was added. The castle and hunting lodge complement each other with the archaeological museum in the immediate vicinity of the castle and the Linn Castle Museum Center.
