On the left bank of the Scheldt near the mouth of the Durme you will find the unique area 'de Schorren van de Durme'. It is one of the few remnants of freshwater marshes that our country still has. Reeds and willows are lord and master, they form impenetrable forests that resemble tropical mangroves. You can admire these salt marshes from the Scheldt dike.

A nice wide dike that runs parallel to the meandering Durme.
Enjoying the water features where peat was once extracted.
Salt marshes that bring peace to the landscape.
Sometimes you don't need more. Just enjoy
