Tips
Between 10,000 and 15,000 soldiers are said to have been stationed here during the Cold War. Given the size of the area, that is quite conceivable. There are residential buildings, a school, canteen and dining rooms, a theater, sports hall, boiler houses and impressive buildings for the higher ranks. The area also has huge vehicle hangars (partly filled in), rocket launch ramps and silos, and a nuclear shelter. The last soldiers left the barracks in 1994.
As with every lost place, extreme caution is required here due to the decay. Access is officially prohibited, but the site is a popular spot for geocachers, photographers, and the adventurous.translated by
