Long ago, a giant is said to have lived in the forests around Wandlitz. However, he was disturbed by the morning ringing of Prenden's church bells. Enraged because he couldn't sleep, the giant took three giant strides toward Lake Wandlitz. These three strides created Lake Liepnitz and its island.
