Since June 1942, the concentration camp Lichterfelde has been located in Wismarer Straße 26-36 on the Teltow Canal. The prisoners from the fenced-in barracks camp had to be available for the Berlin SS offices and carry out construction and cleanup after bomb damage. In April 1945, the SS evacuated the camp with about 1,500 inmates. The "Pillar of Prisoners", a basalt lava stele by the sculptor Günter Oeller, was inaugurated in 2000.
