The city theater was built in 1901 for 277,000 gold marks as a city hall on the filled-in water connection to the Obereider. Since the bottom of the filled-in Holstengraben was not stable enough, 42 wells filled with concrete now form the foundation. From the middle of the 20th century the building was only used as a theatre. In addition, rising seats had been installed, which no longer permitted multi-purpose use.
At the very end of the century there were once again significant conversions, in which, in addition to the renewal of the entire technology, a scenery lift was also added. Although many playful elements had to give way, the theater is still a shining attraction in the cityscape. The Stadttheater largely determines the scene on Jungfernstieg. The impressive building was donated by the Sparkasse in 1901.

The Stadttheater in RD is one of the state theaters in S-Hische and shows not only drama but also music, ballet, concerts and theater especially for the younger generation and puppet theater...

The appearance of the theater is striking for the cityscape in RD...

The foundation stone was laid in November 1900 and the inauguration took place a year later in November 1901...

At that time, the building appeared in a historical Renaissance style supplemented by elements from the Wilhelminian period. A lot of ornamentation was removed over the years, giving the Stadttheater its clear appearance today 😉...

            Data about the factory
Fritz Fleer: Rendsburg Eva (1982, Bronze)

The Rendsburg Eva in front of the Stadttheater is already the second Eva sculpture in Rendsburg. Adolf Brütt's bronze sculpture Eva and her children from 1889 was originally displayed in Rendsburg, but this original cast was then displayed in the sculpture park at Gottorf Castle, freeing up the original space. Instead, Fritz Fleer's bronze sculpture, almost 100 years younger, found its place in front of the Stadttheater in Rendsburg. Since Brütt's work was still missing in Rendsburg, a cast was made some time later, which now has its worthy place in the city park.

If one compares the two works of art with one another, a completely different approach becomes apparent: while Adolf Brütt's work is narrative, naturalistic and lifelike, Fritz Fleer shows a generalized, stylized form. With his Eva, the focus is less on the individual portrait and more on the "constructed", tectonic body, which thus appears like the symbol of a woman. This also becomes clear in the facial features, which deliberately remain schematic and sketchy and leave out personal features.

One of the most beautiful buildings Rendsburg has to offer. At present there is also a sculpture exhibition in the nourishing environment

The Stadttheater is a great photo lens in almost every season. But sry., if the flat copper roof is cut off in the highlight photo, there's no star.

The Stadttheater in Rendsburg is a picturesque, historic building.
Around the year 1890, the Rendsburg city councils pursued the idea of building a theater, which after all belonged to an up-and-coming city.
Up to now, traveling theater troupes have made guest appearances in the “Tonhalle” hall after the demolition of the Paapsche Theater in Eisenstraße (173).
The people of Rendsburg came to the realization that they not only needed a theater building, but also a hall for festive balls, conferences and exhibitions. Therefore, from 1898 the project was no longer called Stadttheater, but Stadthalle. On July 22, 1898, it was finally decided to build the town hall where the theater is today.
In the years 1984/1985, the theater hall with foyer and cloakrooms were redesigned according to the plans of the building authority of the city of Rendsburg and from 1998 to 2000, among other things, the entire technology in the stage building was renewed. At the end of the 1970s, a studio stage was set up in the former theater workshop - the "Kammerspiele".
Today, the Schleswig-Holstein State Theater and Symphony Orchestra is a modern company with around 380 employees and over 700 performances per season.
