The viaduct was extensively restored and is part of the Elbschetal cycle path. The view from up there on Wetter / Wengern is really nice.

In 1934, the Elbschetal Viaduct was built as part of the Witten-Schwelm railway line.
From 1934 to 1939 on this route daily 23 passenger trains, including 5 express trains.
Added to this was a not inconsiderable freight traffic. The Elbschetal Viaduct consists of Ruhr sandstone.
In 1984, the rails were dismantled. The transition over the bridge is not possible.

Elbschetalbahn is great to drive. The viaduct invites you to a short break to enjoy the beautiful view of Witten - Wengern. You also have a direct connection to the Ruhr Valley Cycle Path
