The 86-hectare former military training area "In den Rödern" near Babenhausen represents a habitat of outstanding importance for plants and animals, which is why it has been designated a "Natura 2000 site" by the European Union under the Habitats Directive (FFH) and the Birds Directive.

A few years ago, flocks of sheep grazed "In den Rödern." Then came the Przewalski horses, descendants of ancient steppe horses, who thrive here in a fenced area.

The site is located about one kilometer southeast of Babenhausen's town center.
