During World War I, the Sesto Dolomites were the scene of battles when war raged between Italian and Austrian troops (mountain war) here in the mountains. Silent witnesses such as holes in the rocks and rusting shrapnel are still visible today. The Sesto Dolomites Nature Park was founded in 1981, and in 2010 the state government of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano decided to rename it the Three Peaks Nature Park.
The reason for this was that the imposing peaks of the Drei Zinnen are the most outstanding feature of the nature park. Today, the 11,891-hectare protected area in Alta Pusteria extends from the municipal areas of Sexten, San Candido and Toblach to the north-eastern Dolomites, the Landro valley and the border of the neighboring region of Belluno.
Nature adventure trails such as the one around the idyllic Toblacher See (exactly on the border between the Fanes-Sennes-Prags and Drei Zinnen nature parks) or the WaldWunderWelt with the Toblach forest adventure trail at the nature park house invite you to take a trip to this nature park.

The mountain path blown into the wall was created based on military strategies and was a hotly contested front during the First World War.
The classic in the Sexten Dolomites awaits every mountain hiker with magnificent and spectacular views of the Fischleintal and the wildly jagged Dolomite mountains and is also suitable for absolute via ferrata beginners. The “Strada degli Alpini” is not technically difficult, but the exposed passages definitely require a head for heights and sure-footedness, otherwise there is no fun here.
Otherwise, the easily accessible ledge is secured by wire ropes in all difficult places and runs through the western flank of the Elfer without any major differences in height. If you don't have any problems with the depth and views of narrow bands in places, this climb is a real pleasure.

Great but easy via ferrata (A) with magnificent views (but you have them everywhere in the Dolomites 😉).
